Might be worth adding a note up where the FDTI adaptor is spoken about that there are now ESP32 Expansion boards which do away with the need for that adaptor and make life so much easier…

I have now destroyed two cameras trying to fit them in a waterproof case. Could it be that the lens part which is mounted on its base is not supposed to be unscrewed? How do you guys get the camera placed on a case (with the lens part outside the case)?

My ESP32-CAM board seems not temperature tolerant; it refuses to work in Winter and Summer. Can anybody recommend a good source that I can buy a good board from?

If you do not have the IP where you connected to your router on your serial port, then the firmware is incorrectly recorded.
